Frequently Asked Questions
Does having home care result in a loss of independence?
No. Our belief is that independence is being in control of your decisions. Utilising home care or live in services means being in control of your activities and retaining as much independence as each situation allows. Many of our clients just need a little help to continue living a safe and productive life, while others might be recovering from a fall or surgery, or another condition. Regardless of your situation, our goal is to enable you to achieve the best possible outcomes while being in control of your care and daily decisions.
Can I trust a carer in my home?
Professional carers like those employed by Life Care Plus have chosen a career in compassionate care of those in need. We implement a thorough screening system before recruiting new carers, which includes an in-person interview, comprehensive background checks and references and DBS checks, and the purpose of this due diligence (other than to check professional competency and experience) is to assess compassion, identity and integrity. Rest assured, we would not put a carer in your home that we did not feel could be trusted.
How does Life Care Plus attract the best carers?
Our Golden Rule states ‘We will not refer a carer into your home that we would not welcome into our own home.’
Similar to any working professional, carers are attracted to organisations that reflect their own objectives and characteristics, which is why so many of our carers have integrity, compassion, stability and hope – mirroring the values of Life Care Plus as an organisation.
What if we don’t like our carer?
As part of your initial assessment, we will identify your carer preferences, and match these against our database to find a carer that meets your requirements. However, if you decide that you don’t like the carer we have provided, simply contact us and we’ll allocate another of our experienced carers quickly and efficiently.
Will we have a choice in selecting the carer?
Yes, absolutely. As part of your initial assessment, we will work with you to understand the unique skills and personality that you desire in a carer. We will then match this information with the details we hold about our carers to find an individual who is best suited to your needs. Feedback from clients often indicates that a good relationship between carer and service user is key to the success of home care and live in care, so we highly encourage your input.
What is the process of finding a carer?
We make the process of finding a caregiver very simple and prompt. Give us a call and we’ll conduct a brief phone discussion to understand your needs. We will then arrange a follow up in-home consultation to ask more detailed questions and identify exactly what you require in terms of service provision and care, and your carer preferences. Within 24 hours of that visit we are usually able to allocate a professional carer to your home. Our team continuously screens carers beyond current demand to give you quick access to the best carers in our community.
